The other day I was trying to explain leap year to Tyler, and I told him that if my mom had had me 5 days later I would have been born on leap day because I was born in a leap year. When I told him that, had that happened, this year I would be celebrating my 8th birthday he said "but then you wouldn't be our mom". I asked him why not, and he said "because you wouldn't be old enough".
It is a bit funny to think of me right now saying I'm 8. Eight is such a momentous year- baptism, activity days/scouts, cursive, multiplication, etc. I'm so glad I'm not 8 again, although I sure wouldn't mind all that energy! :)

Cuts
After putting it off for a long time, I finally cut Eliza's hair.
She had the cutest curls at the end of her hair in the back where it was the longest. But, it was getting really long and the curls would get really tangled. So it was time to cut the curls and make doing hair easier.
I figured out about how long I wanted it and put it in a ponytail below that so I could keep the curls I cut off. Is that weird or creepy? Does anyone else do that? Anyway, after I butchered off the bottom I got it all evened out and blow dried it. And...

it shrunk. It wasn't supposed to be this short. I'm ok with it though because I can still pull it back in a pony tail and she doesn't seem to care, I honestly think she doesn't notice. I'm just glad she wasn't a paying customer because she would have been asking for a refund.
In other news Eliza caught on quick to the potty training we sprung on her last week. Before we started I mentioned a time or two that we needed to potty train her. Well, she thought she was going to get a potty train. I'm not sure what that looks like in her mind but I'm picturing a row of port-a-pottys. Eliza seems to have forgotten the "train" maybe due to the treats she got for going. But I am happy to say we are now able to cut diapers from the shopping list and I'm not going to miss changing diapers and carrying them around in my bag. Summer's going to be nice, but for now I have to make sure where ever we are going has a public restroom that isn't too grody.

Also, today I am one year farther into my 30's. I'm not one of those people who gets offended when asked their age, but I think I'm opposed to posting how old I am just in case a few years from now I don't want anyone being able to figure it out. I'm told you never know where stuff you post goes and it can be "out there" for years. Having said that, I probably just embarrassed the 14 year-old Eliza. Oh well, that's what mom's are for, right!

She loves me... She loves me not!
Over the last week or so Eliza has been coming up to me and saying "Mom, did you know I love you?". Her timing is very random, and she says it several times a day. It's been very cute and I'm not really sure where it is coming from. It started after I came back from Hawaii so maybe someone really missed me after all! :) So, the other night Eliza was asking me for something, I don't even remember what it was, but obviously it was very important to her because when I told her "no" she pouted (they learn that way too young!) and said "I don't love you". I gave her my best "oh well" like it didn't bother me, but it kind of stung. It's going to be so much fun when she's a teenager!!! ;p
Happy Valentines Day!
